Elon Musk was unable to speak.
Tuesday night, during a live audio chat with software engineers, the Twitter CEO was being questioned by a user about the inner workings of the company’s systems. Musk, who hours earlier declared he would maintain oversight of Twitter’s software systems despite his intention to step down as CEO, claimed the company’s code required a complete rewrite. One of the participants pushed for him to explain it completely before asking what he meant.
After a few pauses and hesitations, Musk exclaimed, “Amazing, wow.” You are an idiot, What an idiot.
The incident brings to light Musk’s new situation, which includes a crisis of confidence in his once-unquestionable brilliance. Musk also runs Tesla and SpaceX.
