Mahindra Automobiles has announced that it will use the VW MEB chassis to produce five electric vehicles: XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07 and BE.09. After Ford, they will again use another car manufacturer’s chassis for their vehicles.
In May 2022, Mahindra and Volkswagen will work together in the areas of electric vehicle manufacturing, battery production and charging networks. five electric vehicles from Mahindra’s design headquarters in the UK, all with an avant-garde look, will be sold in India as well as in future markets worldwide.
The new vehicles will all use safer blade and square lithium-ion batteries that can accept 60-80kWh fast charging and deliver 0-100km/h acceleration in under 6 seconds. Mahindra also offers a rear-wheel, four-wheel powertrain design for the new vehicle, which is tentatively available with 228-282HP and up to 335-389HP for the higher end models.
However, the Mahindra XUV.e8 will not be available until December 2024 at the earliest, while the XUV.e9 will not be released until April 2025 and the BE series will probably not see more photos and information until 2025/2026.
