Few electric or gas-powered cars can do what the battery-powered Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Turbo S can: combine acceleration, handling, luxury, light off-road, efficiency and flexibility when carrying goods. It tests a lot of the box on a practical level, but the Taycan Cross Turismo Turbo S also sparks the senses in a way that few EVs do, combining the direct, tuned response of a Porsche with the ability Instant, powerful acceleration of up to 750 horsepower and 774 pound-feet of torque.
All that doesn’t mean it’s an uncompromising car, though: its 202-mile EPA-rated range is disappointing, even though I’ve observed performance and economy predictions. fuel economy. The range encourages mild weather, suggesting it can boast more than it really is. range than its reviews suggest.

The car I drive is a 2021 Taycan Cross Turismo, but there are some changes made to the 2022 model, limited to the inclusion of Android Auto and battery thermal management updates for faster DC fast charging. For 2023, Porsche says the changes include increased range and shorter charging times – but in an interesting twist, these updates can be added to older Taycan models via the update. The Turbo S Bits
The flagship Cross Turismo Turbo S retains the Taycan’s off-road fender accents and the Gravel lift mode, which increases the suspension for more ground clearance. It’s an odd overlap for a car with 750bhp squeezed from its electric powertrain – made up of an 800-volt battery system “versus the more common 400-volt architecture”; and powerful electric motors front and rear.
Note, however, that the full 750bhp is only available when using the car’s Quick Start Control feature; In normal operation, the Turbo S reaches 616 horsepower. That’s unfortunate as it means the car’s key specs – 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds and 750bhp – are only available when using a feature that has extremely limited real-world applications.
